The famed beauty of Kashmir has once again been scarred by military confrontation. Indian strikes on Wednesday hit several sites on the Pakistani-administered side of the territory and in areas within Pakistan, with deaths reported. Pakistan has vowed to respond in kind.

India struck in the aftermath of a deadly terrorist attack on the Indian-controlled side of Kashmir on April 22, in which 26 civilians were killed. India has suggested that Pakistan was behind the attack, a claim that Pakistan has denied.
